When my kids were babies, they ate everything. I mean everything! Broccoli, cauliflower, green beans and if I was to feed them green eggs and ham, they’d of eaten that too. Then they started to challenge everything I cooked and became picky eaters. I did not let them become picky eaters, I wasn’t offering them alternative foods to encourage picky eating and I definitely put the healthy stuff out there. They just turned their little noses up at everything!
Sometimes picky eaters are just trying to test you to see how far they can push. Other times it’s quite possible the kids aren’t drawn to the healthy snacks and you’ll need to do a little creative work to get them to eat good food.
I have collected these 7 delicious healthy snacks for your pick eaters. These are snacks that I have tested on my own kids and they were a hit. Hopefully you can find a few that will become your kids favourites.
1. Apple Cookies
Apple Cookies are a big hit here, huge! Apple slices smothered in peanut butter and topped with crushed nuts, coconut and chocolate chips (yes, a little real chocolate is good). The kids will think it’s a treat! If your little guys can’t do nuts or other toppings, leave them out. A good substitute for nut butter is a pea based butter. We have used pea butter for school and my daughter enjoys it as well.
2. Chocolate Peanut Butter Green Smoothie
This Chocolate Peanut Butter Green Smoothie is a little sneaky. It’s full of spinach and the kids will never ever know. The chocolate flavour disguises the green taste. Yay! What the kids don’t know will make them super healthy 😉

4. Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Banana Cookies

There was a time when avocados were pretty gross around here. Some of us still don’t like them but they do love this chocolate pudding with a little creamy avocado mixed in. Made with lots of sweet chocolate and maple syrup, the kids devour it.
6. Strawberries and Cream Smoothie
Oh ma gosh, this is one of my favourite smoothies! This strawberry and cream smoothie is made with creamy coconut milk, frozen berries and honey. It’s pretty darn close to a strawberry milkshake and you’ll have no problem getting your kids to drink it.
7. Fruit and PB & J Kabobs
This! Peanut butter and jam was a staple when I was a kid and still is around here. Making it into little bites with fruit make this a delicious and a healthy go-to snack or lunch for your picky eater.
